House of Joy - South Wales and Uganda

HOUSE OF JOY HOW IT ALL STARTED

House of Joy South Wales was formed by ten people, many who visitedUganda on previous occasions. We acquired land in Kasala, a bush area in the district of Mukono (30miles from the capital city,Kampala.)
We visited the area and spent time with the people asking them how we could help them, there reply was unanimous they wanted education for the children and clean water

So in February 2005 we built just two classrooms to start, the village didn’t waste any time enrolling the children for school in the first week we had 50 children enrolled and ready to start. Many of the children had never been to school before this was a whole new beginning for them.

In August 2005 a team went out and built another 3 classrooms we now had 168 children on our register.

In May 2006 we had to build quickly as we had 300 children ready for school.

At present we have 7 classrooms 3 teacher's houses a vocational centre for training adults and a chicken project being developed as you read this

Sounds like we have a lot of money not at all, we rely on each person who flies out to supply there own money for flights and expenses

We run a child sponsorship programme for just £5.00 A MONTH you can help educate a child and be assured that they have a bowl of porridge everyday.

We also have a sponsorship programme for teachers for £30.00 PER MONTH you can sponsor a teacher to educate approx 40 children.

We also fund raise through different events and people give us gifts of money

Our team are available to do lessons in school for all ages and also in churches, round table,
W. I. meetings and any event that people feel they are able to help us

Maybe you may know a way we could raise some money if so we would like to hear from you.
